Home  /  iPhone 8: Release Date, Features and Pricing

Turns out the newest iPhone yet will be far from overrated…Leaks from Apple itself (oops) have revealed that there’ll be massive updates to the iPhone 8, which will provide everything from an Augmented Reality to a 3D security sensor.

You’d probably be living under a rock if you hadn’t heard that the iPhone 8 is likely to be hitting the shelves come late October 2017, just after the launch of the iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus in September 2017. Analysts are foreseeing that iPhone 8 sales will beat those of the iPhone 6, with a growing number of iPhone users being keen to upgrade; if you’re one of them, here’s everything you need to know about what you’ll be getting with the iPhone 8.

Seeing we’re all about iPhone screen repairs at FonEZY, let’s first take a look at what makes the iPhone 8 screen different to previous models: a curved AMOLED display for one. If you aren’t super tech-savvy, AMOLED stands for an ‘Active-Matric Organic Light-Emitting Diode’, which in lay terms, allows for faster pixel activation and higher definition. What’s more, the 5.8 inch curved screen will travel over the left and right edges of the iPhone 8, meaning there’ll be no border (AKA ‘bezel’) surrounding your display. There’ll also be a virtual home button, removing the need for the usual inbuilt one. What about the touch ID sensor? The prediction we’re hoping for is that it will be fixed into the iPhone 8 screen, rather than placed on the back like it is with the Samsung Galaxy S8, or placed on the side sleep/wake button – like with certain Sony Smartphones.

Design-wise, a curved glass back will replace the aluminium back, and you’ll find the larger display move visually appealing; perhaps more user-friendly too, as icons will be less ‘squashed in’. The 5.8 inch display is the largest to date (with other iPhones having a 4.7 or 5.5 inch display), but will allow for everything from improved contrast and brighter colours, to a battery-saving option on display. Despite the significantly larger screen size, the actual body of the phone may actually be smaller in your hand than the iPhone 7 Plus.

Of course the camera deserves a mention, with a vertically-orientated dual camera lens setting the iPhone 8 apart from its predecessors; amongst its key benefits, this allows you to create the level of blurred depth-of-field you’re after, whether you’re taking a snap of a person or object. There’s also rumoured to be a 3D sensor that beats Samsung’s ‘Face Unlock’ in terms of security; you may even be able to put your phone on silent just by looking at the screen. And perhaps the most standout feature, Augmented Reality software, where your iPhone 8 will be able to superimpose virtual items onto real-life objects…really! A tech tool that proved a hit in the Pokemon Go craze.

Did we mention there’s also rumoured to be waterproofing and wireless charging? Welcome to the future of phones, folks!
